The Energy of You Volume XX Issue #26

Hi Reader,

Each month, I run a little life experiment, a simple, focused way to try something new and see what shifts. These experiments help me create change without pressure or overwhelm. Some of them last a week, others stretch into a full month depending on what I’m exploring.

Last month’s experiment was all about boosting joy and movement. I started each day with dancing. I love to dance and don’t do it nearly enough, so I made it easy, a Spotify playlist with 31 songs for 31 days. Mid-month I adjusted to try dancing in the evening before bed. A slower paced beat, hoping it might help me wind down.

Here’s what I noticed:

  • Morning dancing made me more active during the day
  • I didn’t notice a big change in mood, appetite, or energy
  • Evening dancing didn’t noticeably affect sleep or relaxation

Will I keep dancing? Yes. I’ll weave it in when it fits.
Will I make it a permanent part of my morning routine? No. My mornings are already full, and the benefits didn’t quite outweigh the need to adjust what’s already working.

This month’s experiment is about writing. I’ve been experiencing a bit of writer’s block lately. I’m curious if adding a 2-minute meditation before I write might help move the needle on that pesky writers block.

The plan is simple, pause, quiet my mind and float in the liminal space for 2 minutes before sitting down to write. Whether I’m drafting a post, journaling, or writing something longer, I’ll begin with a short meditation. I imagine that’ll mean 1 to 4 short meditations a day. I’ll run this throughout August and tweak it if needed. I’ll report back in early September.

What about you?
Is there something you’d like to try? A little experiment of your own?

If you’d like to join me this month, hit reply and let me know. I’d be happy to share the simple check-in questions I use to track what’s working.

Be Inspired,

Cathy
